Psychotherapy aims to help people experience life more deeply, enjoy more satisfying relationships, resolve painful conflicts, and better integrate all the parts of their personalities. It is both a way of understanding human behavior and of helping people with their emotional difficulties and personal problems.
Self-knowledge is seen as an important key to changing attitudes and behaviors. Psychotherapy involves the development of insight as to how our physical health may be compromised in many ways by emotional and relationship issues. Therapy is designed to help clients of all ages understand how their feelings and thoughts affect the ways they act, react, and relate to others.
Together, you and I will talk about your needs and goals for therapy. We’ll also discuss and decide together which therapeutic approaches will work best with your unique way of seeing and being in the world. We will then develop a treatment plan that best meets your goals.
Here are some the ways we can work together to achieve your goals:
Traditional Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy
I take a holistic view of counseling that focuses on helping you align your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual selves, so you can begin to feel whole again and take charge of your life. Emphasis is placed on increasing your self-awareness, exploring and reframing unhealthy beliefs about yourself and life, and learning and practicing healthier behaviors.

I work with individuals, couples and families. I am Certified in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. I also offer the following trauma and psychotherapy services for individuals:

Somatic Experiencing(R) (SE)
Somatic Experiencing is a short-term, naturalistic approach to the resolution of post-traumatic stress reactions, developed by Dr. Peter A. Levine. It is based upon the etiological observation that animals in the wild utilize innate mechanisms which regulate and neutralize the high levels of arousal associated with defensive survival behaviors. Humans possess these same regulatory mechanisms, but these mechanisms are often over-ridden by the rational mind. This restraint leads to the formation of a constellation of symptoms, such as pain, patterns of bracing and collapse, cognitive dysfunction, anxiety, and a sense of intrusion. SE normalizes the symptoms of trauma, which bind these high levels of arousal, and offers the steps needed to resolve activation and heal trauma. I have received my SE certification and am a SEP.
Brainspotting
Brainspotting (BSP) is a powerful, focused treatment that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. BSP makes use of the natural phenomenon of where you look affects how you feel through its use of relevant eye positions. Together the therapist and client pair a fixed eye position and body sensation to an unresolved issue. This rapid, highly effective mind/body centered therapy technique appears to go beyond the cognitive awareness and connects one to their body's innate wisdom to heal itself.

Hypnotherapy
Using the hypnotic trance, you will be able to access and release blocked feelings and emotions by regressing to the early childhood experiences where they began. As children, we make decisions about ourselves and others that later serve as our dysfunctional programming in adulthood. Hypnotherapy works to change that programming by going to its source, creating a strong adult within you, and reuniting that strong adult with your forgotten inner child. I am an Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist and a Certified Hypnotherapy Trainer.
Breathwork
A conscious connected breathing process that gently pushes through blocked energy in your body and energy field, opening and expanding a space for healing on all four levels. It can lead to powerful transcendental and rebirthing experiences.
Energy Psychology (HMR)
Holographic Memory Resolution(R) (HMR) and Energetic Tapping are two modalities that utilize the body/mind connection to heal and reframe trauma, thereby calming the mind and central nervous system.

Spiritual Response Therapy (SRT)
SRT is an alternative healing therapy that helps you put the past behind you and move forward in your life. Founded by the late Rev. Robert E. Detzler, SRT works on a soul level to release negative programming created by your reactions to experiences in this and other lives. As programs are cleared, the past life energies and soul programs are also cleared, allowing your soul to grow and expand. A pendulum and more than 32 charts are used to communicate with your High Self and clear all of the discordant programming in your soul records. As a result, you can regain your self-esteem, interpret life in a more positive way, and feel empowered by and connected to your High Self/Spirit.
